Forcibly Displaced People Network (FDPN) is looking to engage 3 people to help deliver our projects. As an LGBTIQ+ refugee-led organisation we are prioritising people with lived experience for all paid opportunities. 

Administrative assistant 

This is a fixed term 1 year consultancy opportunity. A successful candidate will enter into a contract with the Forcibly Displaced People Network to help sustain FDPN internal and external communications and provide other administrative support as required. 

Duties include the following:

  1. Assist in a range of administrative functions such as minute taking, monitoring email and website inquiries. 
  2. Create and schedule social media content, newsletters and website content as required.
  3. Assist in dealing with client inquiries in particular support allocation. 

Hours and pay:

This role is for 5 hours a week with a pay of $34.04 per hour in accordance with the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award. An additional 10.5% of superannuation contributions is paid. Annual leave including leave loading and personal leave are also available. A successful candidate must be based in Australia and have work rights. You will be working from home.

Event organisers (2 roles) 

FDPN has been funded to organise two community retreats for LGBTIQ+ forcibly displaced people. The retreats or community gatherings are meant to provide a 3-day space at the farm with horses in the Canberra region to explore community connections, increase the sense of belonging and connection as well as work through a peer-led model on how to support each other.

The first retreat is for LGBTIQ+ women only and the second retreat is for the whole of LGBTIQ+ displaced community. The dates for the retreats have not been yet set. They will most likely occur late 2022 – early 2023.

We are seeking 2 people to act as event organisers. 

Duties include: 

  1. Advertisement and promotion of an event on social media and through online channels. 
  2. Assisting in selecting participants 
  3. Organisational duties (such as booking catering, confirming the dates etc)
  4. Communications with selected participants.
  5. Assistance during the retreat.

The event organiser will be supported by an FDPN coordinator. 

Pay: 

You will be paid a total fee of $1000 for this opportunity.A successful candidate must have an ABN, be based in Australia and have work rights. You will be working from home. You will be required to be present at the retreat in Canberra (any travel expenses will be covered additionally).

LGBTIQ+ people who are people seeking asylum, migrants or refugees are prioritised for this contract opportunity with a woman or a non-binary person with lived experience of misogyny being prioritised to organise a retreat for LGBTIQ+ displaced women.
